USS Breedlove

From Bravo Fleet

USS Breedlove NCC-95166 is a Edison-class Federation starship currently assigned to Fourth Fleet's Task Force 17. Under the command of Commander Rin Ch'kythal and Lieutenant Commander T'sare, the Breedlove serves a dual purpose for the Task Force: it is one of the primary border patrol vessels, and with its powerful long-range sensor arrays, it also acts as a scout during patrols.

The Breedlove's primary duty for Task Force 17 is patrol duties. In her day-to-day, she typically will be patrolling the starlanes on the edge of Task Force space and will often drop off supplies and personnel to the more remote colonies and Starbases, thanks to her large cargo bays. She can also serve as a support vessel during scientific operations for other ships, such as the USS Sheffield, when they take on missions in more dangerous areas. In such operations, the "Breedlove" will often arrive ahead of the other vessel, providing escort to explorers approaching volatile areas on missions of scientific inquiry or patrolling the system. Her sensor array and laboratory facilities enable her to maintain good standing to conduct secondary scientific and survey operations beyond her tactical responsibilities. Her sickbay is also surprisingly large, able to accommodate injured personnel from other ships during tactical encounters, and her high cruising speeds allow her to assist in a swift evacuation.

As a modern vessel, the Breedlove is not necessarily luxurious. Bright metal accents, typically of the 25th century, adorn the ship. As she typically sticks close to home, the recreational facilities on board the vessel primarily consist of holodecks and holosuites. There is a large lounge that sees heavy use. There is also an acoustic guitar band on board the ship, named ‘The Great Bend’, which frequently attracts a large crowd in the lounge when they perform.

Crew of the Breedlove

  • Commander Rin Ch'kythal: An Andorian male in his late thirties who has assumed his first command on Breedlove. He held a successful career as an operations officer on several vessels and, most recently, served as the executive officer on a Steamrunner-class vessel. Ch'kythal has a mild temperament and is more cerebral than your typical Andorian. He is personable and warm in his interactions. This has served him well in building good rapport with those he works with. He is good at inspiring confidence in those he oversees.
  • Lieutenant Commander T'sare: A Vulcan female in their mid-thirties who most recently served as chief science officer and second officer on a Nova-class vessel. T'sare accepted her first executive officer position on Breedlove with a bit of hesitation, as she did not want to lose her opportunity to pursue science in the name of advancing her command career. She understood that Breedlove might still be in a position to provide scientific support at times, so she decided to move forward with the position. T'sare is hard-working, dependable, and expects the best from those around her.

In Play

  • The Breedlove is a Task Unit Asset, and any member of Task Force 17 can feature it in their stories.
  • The Breedlove is an excellent option to assist your vessel in border patrol operations, especially if you are in a smaller class vessel, and it makes sense that it would not be conducting these operations alone.
  • With strong tactical and scientific capabilities for a ship of her size, the Breedlove is a good choice to run escort or recon duties on exploration missions where some danger might be anticipated. She can join your ship, venturing deeper into space, protecting against threats or keeping an eye out for enemies, while also assisting in scientific study.
  • The Breedlove might be a vessel nearby that would respond to a call for help along border areas between starbases and outposts.
  • Although not its primary function, the Breedlove can act as a vessel to assist or assume scientific responsibilities.
  • The Breedlove can be used like any other task unit asset, showing up to resupply or deliver officers, or mentioned off-screen by dealing with distant problems or discovering the initial plot hook that your ship is sent to deal with.
