Starbase 24

Starbase 24 is a Federation Unity-class starbase located in the Tcaris system on the spinward end of the border with the Klingon Empire. Constructed in the 2380s when Federation paranoia was its highest, the station has provided a bulwark against rogue Klingon groups such as the Sovereignty of Kahless, the Hunters of D’Ghor, and the House of Mo’Kai. In that time, it became a focal point for missions of cooperation between Starfleet and the Klingon Empire in upholding mutual strategic and security interests. It has historically been a key hub for cross-border commerce and industrial interests, and a major border checkpoint.

While the rise to power of Chancellor Toral has damaged relations between the Federation and the Empire, SB-24’s immediate Klingon neighbours are the pro-Federation House of Lorkoth. As such, though the station has a duty to protect Federation territory from opportunistic Klingon raiders, its primary dealings with the Empire continue to be in the name of upholding the Khitomer Alliance through joint operations and mutual support.
