USS Atlantis was an Argonaut Class starship assigned to Fourth Fleet's Task Force 17 last under the command of Captain Tikva Theodoras. She was posted to the Delta Quadrant for long-range exploration before engine difficulties forced her to return to Federation space. Following an initial refit and shakedown cruise, the vessel was ultimately decommissioned by Starfleet Command and handed over to the Federation Science Council for Archaeology and Anthropology for examination of the vessel and its computer core.
