USS San Diego is a California-class utility cruiser assigned to the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 93. With an enlarged auxiliary craft bay and expanded workshops compared to some other California-class vessels, the San Diego is used for emergency maintenance support and search and rescue missions. In keeping with the sometimes uncertain nature of search and rescue operations, the San Diego also keeps a slightly higher than normal Security contingent on board. She has just finished a refit and is under the command of a new captain and crew. The San Diego is currently on call to render assistance and is currently patrolling the Old Romulan Neutral Zone for the foreseeable future.
