The USS Discovery (NCC-82006) is a Century-class Federation starship and became the flagship for the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 17 in 2399. Built specifically to explore the Delta Quadrant, the builders at the Devron Fleet Yards (her place of construction) ensured the ship was outfitted with the latest technology and more specialised equipment and essentials for her mission of deep space exploration. Unlike the standard configuration for Century-class ships, Discovery is equipped with faster engines and the best tactical systems in the fleet. As well as this, a majority of her storage facilities and cargo bays were jam-packed with extra supplies, fuel and equipment due to the need for the ship to be able to fulfil her long-term mission requirements. Launched under the command of Captain Zack Marshall-Bennet at the start of 2399, the crew was populated by everyone from his previous command (the USS Vesta). As a result of this, the crew was one of the most trained and experienced crews in the fleet to lead Starfleet's efforts in exploring the Delta Quadrant. Eventually command fell to Bennet's first officer, Lucas Rider, when it was necessary for Bennet to concentrate on commanding Starfleet's forces assigned to his command.
The USS Discovery (NCC-92422) is an Odyssey Federation starship and the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 17 flagship since 2401. One of the newest of her class and one of the few constructed in the 25th century, she was launched from Avalon Fleet Yards and named in honour of her predecessor, a Century starship lost in the Delta Quadrant during the Blood Dilithium crisis.

Design & Layout
Operating primarily out of the task force's headquarters at Deep Space 17 in the Typhon Frontier, Discovery provides deep space support to Starfleet ships on exploratory missions ranging far from the Federation border.
Like all Century-class ships, the Discovery is equipped with sophisticated computer technology allowing for a majority of the ship to maintain itself while the crew focus on their mission at hand. Her design features are heavily relied upon a mixture of those found on the Sovereign-class, the Intrepid-class and Galaxy-class. This was one thing that impressed Captain Bennet the most when he took command of the ship. The bridge layout, for example, was similar to the Galaxy but showed similar design themes taking from the Sovereign.

One of the unique labs built specifically for Discovery was a larger astrometrics lab. This down to the fact that Captain Bennet noted from the records of the USS Voyager how much they relied upon their own lab during the last few years of their journey. As such he wanted something similar.
Although the Discovery provides support to those on deep space missions when possible, the ship itself has a strong, dedicated crew who are committed scientists themselves. The Discovery has led many exploratory missions in and around the Typhon Expanse since its launch. As the flagship of the Fourth Fleet’s exploratory arm, Discovery often coordinates a vast number of ships that are nearby, acting as a central hub of information and providing further resources where possible. If a ship is unable to reach it due to its own mission commitments, the Discovery would often send one or two of its runabouts with much-needed supplies. Furthermore, its large quantity of long-range probes can be launched to supplement other ships out in the field.

Being the flagship of the task force, the Discovery is equipped with the latest in hyper-subspace communication technology too. When in Federation space, the ship is able to use its advanced holographic technology to bring others in, especially other commanding officers, to have a real life face-to-face meeting (if they have holographic communication devices on their ships) to speak with Captain Bennet. Once in the Delta Quadrant, it will be down to Discovery<nowiki/>'s powerful deflector dish to bounce this signal off an artificial quantum singularity to remain in touch with the other ships in Task Force 17.
Discovery is a floating starbase, and much like its sister ships, its extensive recreation facilities are highly sought after by visiting ships and its own crew alike. The ship’s huge arboretum deck, known as The Field, thanks to its long, lush grasslands, is the perfect spot for anyone to visit to relax. Though almost everything about it is artificial (e.g. the holographic sunshine), The Field is well-maintained. It is a beautiful spot for a picnic to get away from the busy lifestyle so many Starfleet officers engage with on such prestigious assignments. In one area is a huge soccer field. This sport has become quite popular among the crew of the Discovery and its visitors. Weekly matches take place against various teams, many of which represent the many departments and divisions on board.

Support Craft
Another key area that is enjoyed by many is The Grand Hall. It is the main crew lounge and is quite sophisticated in its decor. Guests are treated to a lot of pomp and circumstance, as its holographic hospitality team provides the best in fine dining, entertainment, and drinks. Open every day, The Grand Hall can sometimes serve as the central point for any key diplomatic event. In the evenings, a central holographic stage can come to life, and holographic performers come to life with music from a range of Federation civilisations. Once a month, Klingon opera is enjoyed by many, and the Grand Hall resembles a traditional building that would be found on Qo’Nos.
Lastly, the Discovery<nowiki/>'s shuttlecraft compliment was reduced in favour of it having more runabouts. Instead of the usual eighteen, this was taken down to nine. The extra space was given to three more mission specific runabouts. Along with the captain's yacht the Discovery was launched with the following types of runabouts, all of them taking their namesake on places or peoples related to the HMS Discovery (from 1774):

*Arrow-class

* Captain Janel Tymor is a joined Trill man in his late forties who has twelve lifetimes of experience. A scientist by origin, since joining with the Tymor symbiot, he has shown a true knack and confidence in being a starship captain. Being able to count on previous hosts’ skills and attributes, Tymor is known to be a well-balanced individual who brings calmness to any tense situation he is in. His wife and their four children all reside on the Discovery with him.

* Commander Tolena Reon is a young-looking Bajoran man in his mid-thirties. A keen pilot and engineer, Reon served with Tymor on his previous command. Reon is a confident individual who works hard to support his crew in any way possible. His husband, Akrem, serves as the Discovery’s Chief Science Officer and Second Officer. The two of them have known each other since their birth and grew up together on Bajor. Reon and Akrem both enjoy playing soccer, and each captains a team, providing a friendly rivalry among the crew.

The Discovery's mission to the Delta Quadrant was postponed due to the sudden insurgence from raids taking place along the Federation-Klingon border (specially in the Archanis Sector.) Led by rebels that were part of the House of D'Ghor, the attacks against Federation assets included colonies, outposts and civilian traffic. It required a strong response from the Federation, as a result elements from the Fourth Fleet were sent in. Being the new flagship of its task force, the Discovery led Starfleet's efforts in rebuilding the detection grid along the border. This also included the successful assembly of the new Archanis Array.  The Discovery would prove herself in battle and that the ship, along with its crew, were ready for whatever awaited them in the Delta Quadrant.
*As an experienced commanding officer, Captain Tymor might be someone your crew calls for advice or ideas on dealing with an issue that may have arisen from the mission. He could provide his own insights, based on his experience from his symbiont’s previous hosts, or he could provide further logistical support with one of the ship’s support crafts.

"Sometimes the universe allows for the making of unexpected memories."
—Philippa Georgiou - Ship's Dedication Quote

The USS Discovery (NCC-92422) is an Odyssey-class Federation starship and the Fourth Fleet's Task Force 17 flagship since 2401. One of the newest of her class and one of the few constructed in the 25th century, she was launched from Avalon Fleet Yards and named in honour of her predecessor, a Century-class starship lost in the Delta Quadrant during the Blood Dilithium crisis.

Operating primarily out of the task force's headquarters at Deep Space 17 in the Typhon Frontier, Discovery provides deep space support to Starfleet ships on exploratory missions ranging far from the Federation border.

Although the Discovery provides support to those on deep space missions when possible, the ship itself has a strong, dedicated crew who are committed scientists themselves. The Discovery has led many exploratory missions in and around the Typhon Expanse since its launch. Furthermore, its large quantity of long-range probes can be launched to supplement other ships out in the field.

The ship’s huge arboretum deck, known as The Field, thanks to its long, lush grasslands, is the perfect spot for anyone to visit to relax.
